SQA Physics exams

Our exams this year take place on 17th May

Welcome to the Physics Department!

The Physics department at Bo'ness Academy is made up of Mr McFarlane, Mrs Hill and Mrs Clarke. We can be found on the middle floor opposite the biologists.

Physics offers a special way of looking at the world through a combination of experimenting and thinking.

In this way, it is hoped that pupils will gain a greater understanding of the physical world and the part that Physics plays in industry and improving the quality of life.

Progression

There are many wide and varied career paths that can be followed by studying physics. Careers such as dentistry, medicine, optometry, engineering, teaching, radiography and physiotherapy are a possibility, as is employment in trades such as plumbing and joinery

Rolls Royce visit 2016

As part of our STEM activities last year, we took a group of pupils to the Rolls Royce factory in Inchinnan. We were delighted to work not only with such a fantastic company but also one of our former pupils who now works there!

CERN 2017 - Thursday 30th March - Sunday 2nd April   For the last 3 years, the department have been taking senior pupils to CERN in Switzerland to support their studies in the Particles and Waves unit.

Revision Support

Supported study is offered in the department. In between times, pupils are encouraged to work on past papers or on other suitable material such as BBC Bitesize or Glesga Physics.
